Project Introduction

Information Visualisation is a course about the different techniques for visualising abstract information. In the course we learn how to convert information into different formats to aid in viewing.

In this project we were required to choose five statistics and present them in an animation. This was a group assignment in teams of 3.

We chose to do facts about the human body. The facts we chose were:

The percentage of the human body that is comprised of water ... 80%

The speed that nerve impulses travel to and from the brain ... 274 km/h.

Humans shed about 600,000 particles of skin every hour. The amount of skin the average person will have lost by age 70 ... 50KG

The equivilent number of times a person will walk around the equator in an average lifetime.... 5

A sneeze can exceed the speed of ... 160 kmh.

With 3 group members, five facts, intro and credits, two members had two facts each to animate and one member one fact and the intro and credits. I was responsible for the first two facts listed above. Note that this is not the order the appear in the animation. I used Adobe After Effects to animate.

"Portfolio" - Project Discussion

For Information Visualisation we were required to build a small "portfolio" describing the project (and other projects and the course), its evolution, and project reflections. I have included a copy of the relevant sections of the portfolio here for reference. Note that I have changed some parts of the assignment (such as names) as I make it public.
